In a first, terror act invoked against Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh
He has been named as an accused in the murder of a YouTuber last year

Faridkot police has invoked the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in a murder case in which jailed Khadoor Sahib MP and Waris Punjab De head Amritpal Singh is named as an accused.
This is the first time that UAPA provisions have been added to a case against Amritpal Singh.
Faridkot SSP Pragya Jain confirmed the development, stating that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has informed the court in writing about the inclusion of UAPA sections. When asked about specific sections, Jain said she would need to consult the case file for details.
The move comes ahead of Amritpal Singh’s supporters holding a political rally at the Maghi Mela in Sri Muktsar Sahib on January 14, where they are expected to announce the formation of a political party. A crucial court hearing regarding the National Security Act (NSA) imposed on Amritpal Singh is also scheduled for January 15.
The case relates to the murder of Gurpreet Singh, a YouTuber who ran the channel “Hari Nau Talks,” in Faridkot on October 9 last year. A month after the killing, Punjab Police arrested two operatives of Canada-based designated terrorist Arshdeep Singh Gill, alias Arsh Dalla, whom they identified as the mastermind behind the murder.
Police have alleged that Amritpal Singh was involved in the conspiracy, claiming the murder was carried out at his behest. Amritpal Singh, currently lodged in Dibrugarh Jail in Assam under the stringent NSA, has denied the charges through his father, Tarsem Singh.
Despite the accusations, Faridkot Police is yet to visit Dibrugarh Jail to interrogate Amritpal Singh, even three months after the murder.
