Several IAS, IPS officers in Punjab without new postings after being moved out of their previous roles

At least four Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, a Provincial Civil Service (PCS) officer, and two Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in Punjab have been waiting for the government’s order for new postings after being transferred from their previous assignments.

Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, a 2001-batch IAS officer, was removed from his position as the home secretary of the state on March 24. He has not been assigned any new responsibilities and has been instructed to report to the personnel department secretary. He is the second IAS officer to be stripped of all charges within the past 10 days.

Gurkirat Kirpal Singh was responsible for mines and geology, as well as serving as the commissioner of food and drug administration and overseeing gurdwara elections. All his responsibilities have been withdrawn.

K K Yadav, a 2003-batch IAS officer, was removed from his position as administrative secretary of the education department on March 2, with Anindita Mitra appointed as his replacement. Since then, Yadav has been without a posting.

Similarly, Puneet Goyal, a 2010-batch IAS officer, was removed from his position as director of food on February 25. He has not received a new posting since then.

Jitender Jorwal, a 2014-batch IAS officer, was removed from his position as the deputy commissioner of Ludhiana on March 19. Himanshu Jain has been appointed as the new Ludhiana DC. Since then, Jorwal has not been assigned a new posting.

Daman Mann, A PCS officer who was the assistant deputy commissioner of Mohali, was transferred in October last year and has been without a posting since then.

Varinder Kumar, an IPS officer, was removed as the vigilance chief on February 17. Since then, he has been awaiting a posting. Interestingly, his successor, G Nageswara Rao, was also shifted afterwards, but Kumar has not yet received a new posting.

On Friday, another IPS officer, Kuldeep Chahal, was removed from his position as commissioner of police in Ludhiana, and he was not assigned to another posting.
