Hundreds attend A P Dhillon’s concert: ‘Summer High’ takes over winter chills in Tricity

Several fans of Dhillon, who attended the concert, alleged that the parking should have been near the venue.

Hundreds of fans let go of winter chills, parking woes, foul smell as they grooved to popular Punjabi singer A P Dhillon’s songs, especially blockbuster hits ‘Summer High’ and ‘Excuses’, at the rally ground in Sector 25, Chandigarh on Saturday evening.

Though most of the people came from the Tricity, some arrived from Delhi, Gurgaon, and neighbouring cities Patiala and Ambala too.

Twinkle Rajpal, who came with her husband from Delhi, said that she could not buy tickets for the show in the national capital and so planned to reach Chandigarh for the event.

“I am a diehard fan of A P Dhillon, even in my marriage during the vidaai ceremony, to make me happy, my husband Parash got his song ‘Excuses’ played, so that I do not cry,” Twinkle said.

Omika Sachdeva could not book the tickets when Dhillon held a concert last time. “So this time I got it a week back,” she said.

Foul smell from Dadumajra dumping ground

As soon as Rishi Sharma arrived at the venue, he could smell the stink coming from the nearby dumping ground in Dadumajra. “The venue could have been at a better place. Even management could have been better as the box office to collect the tickets and bands was on a muddy route,” said Sharma, who came from Una in Himachal Pradesh to attend the concert.

Krishan Rathi, also who accompanied his friends at the concert said, “the venue at Sector 34 was better than this one. The management and the Chandigarh authorities should consider keeping future events at better organised venues”.

Parking inconveniences

Several fans of Dhillon, who attended the concert, alleged that the parking should have been near the venue.

“It was really inconvenient to reach the venue as the parking had to be done in other sectors,” Harpreet Kaur, who came with her cousin, said.

Several people who had come for the concert were also seen reselling tickets to others at a low price.

At the area near the box office, a lot of people also managed to get cheap Gold and Silver tickets for the event.

However, still many remained standing outside without tickets and witnessed the music of Dhillon just from the entry gate.

Jazzy B, Josh Brar, share stage

Apart from Dhillon, singers Jazzy B, Josh Brar and Anuv Jain, shared the stage on Saturday evening.

Jasmeen Kaur, however, said that she was expecting more from the concert as in the Delhi show, Honey Singh had made a guest entry.

“I was expecting a big Punjabi singer in A P’s show, as he was performing in Punjab,” she said.

2,000 security personnel kept on toes

More than 2,000 policemen, including SPs and DSPs of Chandigarh Police were seen managing the crowd at the event.

Different teams of the UT police remained on the road outside the venue to keep a check on the miscreants as previous events had reported theft of mobile phones.

Residents of Sector 25 colony were also asked to move away from the event
