Defending the recruitments of the teaching faculty, Himachal Pradesh University vice-chancellor ADN Bajpai said there is no irregularity in the selection process.
He added that the executive council, which meets on August 14, will clear the appointments. Unless there are contradictory instructions from Governor Acharya Dev Vrat, who is also the chancellor of the university, or high court, the university will go ahead with the process, he said.
“The recruitments are fair and being done according to the rules and UGC guidelines. The executive council meeting has been convened for August 14 and all the sealed envelopes will be opened to issue orders for the appointment of 14 teachers,” said the vice-chancellor.
Bajpai said an unnecessary controversy has been created over the selection process for political reasons. Since the high court has stayed the 37 selections done by the university earlier, the recruitment for 14 teachers was started to meet the faculty shortage.
On the Central Students’ Council elections, the vice-chancellor said there will be no direct elections. The university executive council will take a decision on this issue. “The government was on my side banning direct elections and principals of all colleges have given in writting against the elections,” he said.
