Hostel rules become stringent,PU makes room for ‘deserving’ candidates

It has also been decided that any hosteller seeking admission in another course will not be entitled to a seat for a second time.

In another significant decision,PU has decided that any student who has been suspended from the hostel for any reason will not be taken back.

Also,students pursuing PhD will be given hostel accommodation for four years only and will have to move out after that even if they haven’t completed their research. This was stated by Vice-Chancellor Professor R C Sobti during a function on the campus on Saturday.

“It is a step towards transparency and all these measures were required to make room for deserving students. All departments will be given a quota of seats and students will be accommodated on the basis of merit,” he said.

Lack of hostel facility has been a growing concern for authorities as the demand has increased manifold with several outstation students thronging the city for higher education.

Last year,the university had banned hostel seats to those wanting to pursue a second masters degree.
