Himachal student falls to death from third floor of PG in Mohali
Late on Sunday, she reportedly fell from the third floor under unclear circumstances and succumbed to her injuries

A 20-year-old female student died after falling from the third floor of a paying guest (PG) accommodation in the nearby village of Nabha Sahib, Mohali. The police have taken possession of the body and initiated an investigation into the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Usha, a 20-year-old resident of Sanjauli, Shimla (Himachal Pradesh). According to preliminary findings, the police suspect it could be a case of suicide, although the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after a detailed investigation.
As per gathered information, Usha had recently moved into the PG accommodation at Nabha Sahib. Late on Sunday, she reportedly fell from the third floor under unclear circumstances and succumbed to her injuries. No suicide note was recovered from the scene, the police confirmed.
Initial investigation suggests that the girl had shifted to Nabha Sahib from Himachal Pradesh a few days ago for academic purposes. The police recovered an ID card from a Shimla university from her belongings. Additionally, she was found wearing a wristband, possibly linked to a recent disco club event or a show.
Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Satinder Singh stated, “We received information early this morning and immediately took the body into custody. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of death”. He added that the body has been placed in the Derabassi Civil Hospital mortuary, and the deceased’s family has been notified. “Once the parents arrive and further facts are established, the actual reason behind her death will be known, and appropriate action will be taken accordingly,” he added.
