The Punjab and Haryana High Court have stayed the decision of the PEC University of Technology which had expelled five students from the hostel and suspended for the next academic session from the college. Justice Ranjit Singh today stayed the order of PEC University where notice have been issued to PEC on the petition filed by the students.
The five students suspended are Virrat,Amaninder Singh,Amandeep Singh,Akash Rayat and Pardeep Kumar. They alleged that during a recent brawl between the hostel mess workers and the management, the management allegedly wanted students to play in their hands to suppress workers demands. The students in turn retaliated against the management. They expressed that the mess workers who are serving for the past 25 to 30 years deserve basic rights and better living conditions.
Counsel for the petitioners contended that the five had not done any misconduct with the Institute and were rather informing the mess Union of their rights.
