Haryana suspends internet services in Sirsa following Dera chief’s death
Bahadur Chand Vakil’s followers cry foul as another faction is set to take charge of Dera Jagmalwali

The Haryana government on Wednesday suspended internet services across the entire Sirsa district until Thursday midnight following the death of religious leader Bahadur Chand Vakil.
Vakil was the head of Dera Jagmalwali in Sirsa. His followers have been alleging foul play in his death even as a different faction is set to take charge of the Dera. Vakil was cremated on Friday.
The order to suspend internet, issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Anurag Rastogi, was due to the growing tension in Sirsa following his death, according to the home department.
Besides those in Sirsa, the Dera chief’s followers in Fatehabad and other neighbouring districts have also been alleging that his death was not natural.
They have been accusing another Dera follower, Virender Singh Dhillon, who has stepped forward to lead the Dera, of allegedly orchestrating Vakil’s murder. They have also been seeking a CBI probe into the death.
One of the dera followers, Atma Ram, alleged that the Dera chief was killed 10 days ago as part of a premeditated plan. He called for exposing the alleged conspiracy and ensuring justice for the followers.
On Tuesday, Dera followers in large numbers protested in Fatehabad and submitted a complaint to the police superintendent demanding that a zero FIR be filed and sent to the Dabwali police station.
