Haryana CM Saini and ministers to distribute eligibility certificates for Kumhar or Prajapati community on August 13

The certificate, called Patrata Praman Patras, confirms a family's community identity (Kumhar/Prajapati) and their eligibility under the backward class (A) category.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and his ministers will on Wednesday distribute eligibility certificates for members of the Kumhar or Prajapati community, enabling them to access welfare schemes and resources, the Government announced on Monday.

There are approximately 10 lakh members of the community across the state, constituting about 2.9 per cent of the population. The certificate, called Patrata Praman Patras, confirms a family’s community identity (Kumhar/Prajapati) and its eligibility under the backward class (A) category.

According to a Government statement, Saini will distribute certificates to eligible families from the Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, and Yamunanagar districts. Vidhan Sabha Speaker Harvinder Kalyan, Development and Panchayats Minister Krishan Lal Panwar, and Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana will also be present with the chief minister at the state-level event in Kurukshetra.

The ruling BJP is planning to make it a big event with almost all the cabinet ministers and top state leaders of the party expected to distribute the certificates.

According to the schedule, Energy Minister Anil Vij will distribute the certificates in Ambala district, Industries Minister Rao Narbir Singh in Gurugram, School Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda in Panipat, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Vipul Goel in Faridabad, Cooperation Minister Arvind Sharma in Rohtak, Public Health Engineering Minister Ranbir Singh Gangwa in Hisar, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Krishan Kumar Bedi in Fatehabad, Women and Child Development Minister Shruti Choudhry in Bhiwani, and Health Minister Arti Singh Rao in Mahendragarh.

Similarly, Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Krishan Lal Middha will distribute the certificates in Jind district, Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Rajesh Nagar in Jhajjar, Minister of State for Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Gaurav Gautam in Palwal, Rajya Sabha MP Kiran Choudhry in Nuh, Rekha Sharma in Panchkula, Kartikeya Sharma in Rewari, Subhash Barala in Sirsa, Lok Sabha MP Dharambir Singh in Charkhi Dadri, and Naveen Jindal will distribute the certificates in Sonipat.

The certificate will enable a Kumhar/Prajapati family to avail of subsidies for machinery and infrastructure and get panchayat land in over 2,000 villages for pottery work. The certificate will also acknowledge the community’s traditional craft and ensure equitable participation in developmental programmes tailored for its needs, the Government said.
