Haryana cadre IAS officer Mandip Brar to be new Chandigarh Home Secretary

Brar was appointed the Deputy Commissioner in the Union Territory on a three-year deputation in October 2018.

Haryana Cadre IAS officer Mandip Singh Brar will be the new Home Secretary of the UT Administration, Chandigarh, a UT Administration order said Saturday.

Brar was appointed the Deputy Commissioner in the Union Territory on a three-year deputation in October 2018.

Brar has been serving as Director of Information and Public Relations in Haryana.

The posts of the Home and Finance secretaries of the UT Administration have been lying vacant since Home Secretary Nitin Yadav and Finance Secretary Vijay Namdeorao Zade were relieved in June, they said.

The Cabinet’s appointment committee approved the Ministry of Home Affairs’ proposal for Brar’s inter-cadre deputation, the UT Administration order said.

Sources said 2003-batch IAS officers Amit Agrawal and Haryana cadre officer Mandeep Brar were the frontrunners for the post of the UT Home Secretary.
