‘Grenade’ attack at YouTuber’s house: Youth arrested from Haryana, was paid Rs 25,000

Days after an object resembling a grenade was thrown at the residence of a YouTuber in Raipur Rasulpur village in Jalandhar district, police on Tuesday arrested the main accused involved in the attack from Yamunanagar district of Haryana.
The accused, Hardik Kamboj (19), was brought to Jalandhar and taken for weapon recovery. During the recovery, he opened fire at police and sustained a bullet injury in his leg as the team retaliated, police said, adding that the accused was taken to Jalandhar Civil Hospital for treatment. Police added that a .32 bore pistol and six live cartridges were recovered from him. Police are also investigating the involvement of another person in the incident, he said, adding that Kamboj was given Rs 25,000 for throwing the “grenade”.
A “grenade-like object” was hurled at the house of Jalandhar-based YouTuber Rozer Sandhu on Sunday. However, it did not explode. Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti claimed responsibility for the attack, alleging that the YouTuber was abusing Islam.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Jalandhar Rural) Gurmeet Singh told reporters that Hardik Kamboj was arrested from Bihta village in Yamunanagar’s Bilaspur on Monday evening. During questioning, he confessed to his involvement in the incident. He was brought for weapon recovery in Jalandhar on Tuesday morning, said the SSP.
Meanwhile, Jalandhar DIG Naveen Singla issued a warning to those attempting to disturb peace in Punjab. He assured that such elements would be dealt with strictly. The police have also appealed to the people to report any suspicious activities.
