The 13-year-old’s father Pavitar Dikshit while speaking to The Indian Express said: “it was the gross negligence of the mall which led to such a serious incident that my daughter and her aunt had to face. We will fight for justice till the end”.
Meanwhile, the official spokesperson of the mall acknowledged the FIR and said that the team is cooperating with the investigation and has submitted all the evidence. “We are aware of the FIR that has been registered. The team is fully cooperating with the investigating authorities and has submitted all evidence, including the CCTV footage to the police to further assess the incident,” the spokesperson added.
In the middle of the party on Sunday, Maisha and her aunt suffered serious injuries when the granite slab came off from a pillar and fell on the two while they were taking pictures at the Chandigarh’s biggest mall.
The incident took place at around 3.30 pm when the victim’s family came to celebrate Maisha’s birthday at Elante.
Maisha and her aunt were rushed to a private hospital nearby where their treatment is underway. Sources said the child suffered a hip bone fracture and injuries on the ribs, while her aunt underwent stitches for serious head injuries.
According to Surbhi’s husband Sahil Jain, a black granite from the top-most corner of the pillar came off and suddenly fell on the duo with cement chunks.
