Horticulture Minister Narender Bragta said on Sunday the government would ensure that apple cartons for packaging were made available to horticulturists of the state at reasonable prices. Bragta said government public sector undertaking (PSUs)-HIMFED and HPMC-would procure and supply cartons to the horticulturists at affordable prices. He said people with vested interests had been spreading rumours about a steep hike in the prices of cartons ever since the Agro India Packaging Limiteds Gumma unit in Shimla district was shut down. Apple growers should trust the government and not allow themselves to be fleeced at the hands of private carton manufacturers, said Bragta,speaking at a function in Jubbal-Kotkhai constituency.
