The company was created in 1999 by four students from the Annie Fratellini Circus School (Paris) around the project “Nomads”. While two of the students perform on stage, one is on music and the other on lights.

Marion Achard, Farid Abed, Gaëlle Aude Rene said, “Our desire is to affirm juggling and magic, as the artistic languages are the ones in which the possibility of expressiveness, creativity, poetical and comedy are endless. We prefer silent acting giving way to the visual and rhythm of the show.’’

The circus show in Chandigarh, ‘Derrière la Porte’ (Behind the Door), presents to the audience an unusual meeting of two characters on scaffolding. Metaphor of their wanderings, their structure give them a breeding ground for games, nooks to hide and a thousand spaces to explore.

The characters strung surprise effects, play with time and space and transport the audience into a dream world, absurd and tender.

“Circus and magic have a lot in common. We are trying to expand the space of action and challenge the limits. We work according to a principle of openness and accessibility for all arts and culture. They are mobile and try to cross borders — departmental, regional and national to go to a public that sometimes cannot approach them,’’ said the actors.

The Circus Tour Company has many faces. It broadcasts shows in France and abroad, implements educational workshops on circus arts, works with people and children.

The company is engaged and sensitive to the world around it, organises tours abroad and workshops in refugee camps and in France, presents performances for schools of its territory and a children’s festival “Shemlalou”.
