One car and 10 two-wheelers recovered from them; five cases solved
With the arrest of four people,the Chandigarh Police has recovered one car and ten two wheelers from their possession. Four men including a Mohali youth have been arrested by the police.
A team of police officials of the police station at Sector 11 under the SHO Gurmukh Singh apprehended Balwinder Singh,a resident of village Khuda Lahora,Chandigarh at a naka near the cremation ground at Sector 25. Balwinder Singh was driving a stolen Maruti 800.
When asked for documents,Balwinder Singh failed to produce any. The police then arrested him and took him into custody. After interrogating him the police arrested Balwinders accomplice Sandeep Kumar,resident of Maloya. Sandeep was also driving a stolen vehicle. A country made weapon was also recovered from the possession of Sandeep Kumar. An FIR was registered in the police station at Sector 3 on November 27,2011 about the motorcycle which Sandeep had stolen and was using.
During the course of further interrogation,two other accused, Babar Khan,a resident of Maloya and Gurpreet Singh,resident of Mohali,were also arrested from near the light point at Dadu Majra along with a stolen motor cycle bearing a fake registration number. Eight more two-wheelers were recovered from different places. In total one car,three scooters and seven motorcycles were recovered from their possession and five cases of vehicle theft solved.
The police have discovered that Balwinder Singh and Sandeep used to steal the vehicles from Chandigarh and used to dismantle their parts to the scrap dealers through their co-accused Babar Khan and Gurpreet Singh. The four are drug addicts and used to steal vehicles to purchase drugs. The accused were produced before a local court,which remanded them to police custody.
