Thirty-something Yana Gupta is almost reluctant to speak about her erstwhile career in Bollywood or on the ramp. In fact, she emphasises on how lifes become fuller for her now that she has left the catwalk for the recording studio. Gupta, who rose to national fame with her item number Babuji zara dheere chalo in the film Dum in 2003,has been absent from Bollywood and even the ramps ever since. But the Czech girl, who had married Indian artist Satya Gupta, from whom she separated in 2005,insists the absence from the screen or the ramp is not due to a lack of offers. I was busy travelling. I was in the UK for some time, working on my music and my band, says Gupta, who was in the Capital recently for the launch of designer Rocky Ss fall collection at Aza,in South Extension-I.
Her latest interest,Gupta says,is music. The lady who can play the guitar and the flute has formed a five-member band with her friends and will soon be officially launching her English album. I have finished composing half the songs for the album. The recording will happen in the UK. I will also perform live very soon with my band, she said.
There are plans too,of making a comeback in showbiz. Rumour mills are rife about Gupta participating in Season Four of the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa on Sony TV. Incidentally,Gupta, who has campaigns for Kingfisher,Lakme,Calvin Klein,PETA and Victorias Secret under her belt, was also a contender in the opening season of Khatron Ke Khiladi on Colours. I am not going to talk about any show now as it is not official. Also, many a time, one makes things public and they never take off. Ill talk when things take off, she says. Does Bollywood too figure on her list? Gupta merely smiles.
