MCM DAV College for Women,Chandigarh bagged the first prize for putting up the ‘Best Stall’ in the just concluded Chandigarh Carnival. The stall was awarded for the vibrancy and variety that it offered – with various homemade and personalized products as well as enthusiastic and fun loving games. MCM stall remained the biggest crowed puller in the carnival. ‘MCM Nav – Drishti’ offered customized cards,book marks in bright hues,beauty care products made by students and services like nail art,coloured mehndi etc. Sample testing for food adulteration,psychological personality analysis through various techniques including graphology were available for the visitors. Numerous games were also on board like ‘Designers Puzzle’,‘Light the candles with one match stick’,‘Place the coin in right place’,‘Saree tying in 30 seconds’,‘Button the shirt with one hand in 25 seconds’,‘Find the right key for the lock’ and many more games were not just creative but fun too!

Panchkula-based Pallavi Group of Hotels has launched its new venture in the Arabian Sea backwaters in the Alleppey region of Kerala. ‘Tarani’,the first houseboat from the docks of Pallavi,shall start its journey this December,mentioned Himanshu Aggarwal,director of Pallavi Group of Hotels. ‘Tarani’ is about 100 feet in length and has a width of around 20 feet. Fully furnished in Anjali wood,this houseboat is made by strictly adhering to the traditional boat making style. In a bid to provide maximum comfort for the tourists,the houseboat has three fully-furnished rooms with attached bathrooms,fully air-conditioned,well-stocked library,Card and Board games,Fishing Equipment,LCD with DTH connection and north and south Indian delicacies. In addition,it has a spacious balcony with enough space for a family to relax and enjoy the scenic beauty of Kochi. “We are among the first to provide houseboat hospitality services with more than a decade long experience in the hospitality industry. At present,most houseboats in Kerala are being operated by local fishermen and farmers as a side business. We have worked out a plan to increase our fleet to at least 20 such houseboats within three years,making us the leader in providing such services.” Tarani offers houseboat cruise packages through the beautiful backwaters of Alleppey and Kumarakoam covering a magnificent cruise through Lake Vembanad. Further,the Pallavi group is planning to be a part of the Kerala government’s Green Farm Tourism initiative.
