Bhavan Vidhyalaya,Panchkula has won the students’ Antakshari competition in the ongoing Fanta Fiesta held in DAV Model School,Sector 15,Chandigarh. The fun-filled event was enjoyed by one and all and there were a total of 28 teams from the Tricity,Baltana,Nabha and Ambala. The audience were as much a part of the competition as the contestants and everyone got to a chance to bag various gifts. The entire venue resounded with a lot of melodious voices. There was an overwhelming and enthusiastic response from all the participants. The winners were awarded trophies and individual gifts. The winning team will also be given a cash prize of Rs 2100 for the school on the grand finale. The results of Friday’s competition are as follows: Winner: Bhavan Vidhyalaya,Panchkula; Ist runner up: Delhi Public School,Sector 40,Chandigarh; 2nd runner up: YPS,Mohali.

Cultural Connect
As many as 50 students of The British School (TBS),Sector 70,Mohali enacted a play based on European Theatre this Saturday. The play was staged at the culmination of a month-long creative workshop conducted by Olga Kostecka of Poland,who is also a faculty member at the Cambridge University. Speaking on the occasion,Reena Sethi,Director,TBS,Mohali remarked,“It really has been a journey of discovery and exploration for the students. TBS Mohali embarked on this project to discover the historical treasures of Europe,which was a fun and rewarding experience for everyone.” Interestingly,Olga Kostecka arrived at TBS,Mohali as a part of the teacher’s exchange programme from Cambridge. She has been keenly involved with the English and Polish performing arts and theatre. Having successfully conducted theatre workshops at the international level,Olga helped students get familiar with varied theatrical skills and art forms. The final show started with a Polish dance presented by the foundation year students,which included Krakowiak,a very popular folk dance full of life,tempo,long easy strides,spirited abandon and elegance all at the same time. The kids wore traditional Polish costumes to make it truly authentic. It was followed by Polish music by the students of Stage I to III. At the end the students of Stages IV to VII enacted a play named O Skomu Wawelskim,based on a Polish legend.

Career Calling
Chandigarh students can now avail the opportunity to study at Les Roches International School of Hotel Management and Glion Institute of Higher Education,based in Switzerland. This,with the two Swiss Schools hosting hospitality education seminar in the city on August 25 at Hotel Taj from 5.30 pm onwards. “The traditional Indian view of the hospitality sector has undergone a sea change and graduates from our schools are in high demand in the travel,hotel,restaurant,cruise-ship sectors and even large corporate houses. We are looking forward to have Indian students with us,” mentioned Pimo Mazurzack,Regional Admission Director,Laureate Hospitality Education,Montreux,Switzerland.
