Five women,three of them college students,were lost their lives and 32 passengers sustained injuries when a mini-bus turned turtle near Phagwara on Monday. The accident occurred when the driver was reportedly talking on his mobile phone and lost control of the overloaded bus. The driver and the conductor fled after the accident. While two of the girls died on the spot,the others succumbed to their injuries later. The deceased are Rajbir Kaur of Jagpalpur village,Jyoti of Ranipur village and Kulwinder Kaur of Palahi village,Jaswinder Kaur and Balwinder Kaur. Police said there were nearly 50 passengers in the bus and most were students of different colleges in Phagwara and were returning home. The bus was going towards Babbeli village. The injured have been admitted in hospitals. The police have registered a case against the driver.
