Five inter-state border checkpoints in Panchkula reinforced with 3-layer barricading

Under the overall supervision of Commissioner of Police Sibash Kabiraj, the Panchkula police has intensified security along borders adjoining Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. To ensure round-the-clock vigilance, adequate police personnel have been deployed at all five inter-state checkpoints, a police official said.

On Saturday evening, Panchkula DCP Srishti Gupta inspected the checkpoints along the Punjab border, while DCP (Crime) Manpreet Singh Sudan reviewed arrangements at the Himachal Pradesh border.

Police officials said suspicious vehicles are being stopped and thoroughly checked, while solar-powered CCTV cameras have been installed for 24×7 monitoring. A central control room has also been established to ensure rapid response to any untoward incident.

Kaviraj said that the entire operation aims to make Panchkula a crime-free and secure district.

“Our mission is to ensure that every citizen feels safe at all times. Criminals will have to think twice before entering Panchkula. The police teams are alert day and night to prevent any unlawful activity. For us, security is not just a responsibility — it is our top priority,” he said.

He added that all personnel have been instructed to wear reflective jackets for visibility and that traffic flow will be managed to avoid congestion during checking.

Appeal for tenant and worker verification

Meanwhile, during her inspection, Gupta appealed to house owners and landlords to ensure mandatory police verification of tenants and migrant workers.

“This verification is crucial for your safety as well. Accurate records and timely police checks can significantly help in preventing crime,” she said.

The DCP further directed SHOs, chowki in-charges, and border police officers to maintain close coordination with Punjab and Himachal Pradesh Police, ensuring real-time exchange of information regarding suspicious or criminal elements.

Police officers stated that strict vigilance will continue to curb drug trafficking, theft, and other criminal activities.

Continuous monitoring of individuals entering the district will be ensured, and swift action will be taken against any suspicious movement, a police official said.
