Firemen hold mock drill to educate students

The Fire and Emergency Services Wing of the Municipal Corporation today held a mock fire drill in Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 37. The fire wing gave a demonstration of the equipment present for fire fighting. The students were informed about the measures that they are required to take in case of a fire.

Fire Officer Baljinder Singh told the students about the measures to be taken in case of a fire. He illustrated the precautions to be taken in case of fire in the building or house,etc. The officers and the fire team gave a demonstration on how to rescue the fire victims from a spot of fire by giving a mock demo and how to take an injured or unconscious person out of the building. The students were also given a display of how to enter a room in which all the approaches are closed and there is dense smoke. The firemen wore a fire safety suit and entered the room.

The fire personnel gave a demonstration of Hydraulic Platform Turn Table Ladder which can approach the skyscraper building in case of fire. This is used for rescuing the persons from roof tops,those who have other way of leaving the building. The students of Bharat Scouts and Guides and NSS volunteers took special training during the demonstration. Principal of the school Jaswinder Kaur was present on the occasion.
