After the December semester exams at the Panjab University, students of all departments will be able to see answersheets of their batchmates.
But the decision comes with a rider a student seeking to access a classmates answersheet must get his or her consent.
Subsequently, the classmate will be asked to sign on the answersheet in order to record his or her approval.
After comparing the answersheets,a student can discuss the doubts with the examiner, who will be required to clear them.
A student can even question the examiner if there is any discrepancy in awarding marks.
While these decisions were earlier implemented in PU,the science departments were struggling to implement them. The decisions aim to enhance transparency in the examination system.
Also, with the semester system in place, the decisions are likely to lower the load on the re-evaluation branch,as students can get the mistakes in awarding marks rectified before applying for re-evaluation.
Now students can see the marks awarded to them. This will give them a chance to discuss loopholes with their teachers, Prof Naval Kishore,Dean Students Welfare, said. This will also help them improve their performance next time.
Under another decision, all departments will display the internal assessment marks of students on the notice board.
Students, meanwhile, say the decision will save them from wasting time in the re-evaluation process.
The university seems to be progressing. The transparency has certainly improved. With attendance going online, and now these changes in the examination system, students will surely perform better, Neha,a student, says.
