Senior BJP leader L K Advani’s Jan Chetna Yatra, which is in its last leg,on Thursday covered three more states including Haryana and Himachal Pradesh and finally reached Uttarakhand in the evening. It was the 37th day of the 40-day rally, which has so far crossed 25 states. The rally, which received a lukewarm response in Haryana, finally received a fairly good response in the BJP-ruled Himachal Pradesh.

Advani, started his day from Chandigarh, and reached Raipur Rani in Panchkula where he was welcomed by a small gathering of BJP activists. Advani, accompanied with other BJP leaders and daughter Pratibha Advani, addressed the gathering with a public address system from inside his specially designed bus and proceeded for Naraingarh.

Advani’s convoy was received by a few hundred people waiting for him since morning at Naraingarh. Amidst heavy security,Advani stepped on the specially designed lift and emerged out of the roof of the bus to address the gathering.

The black money stashed in foreign bank accounts, purportedly by Central government leaders, businessmen, and corruption remained the core issues throughout Advani’s addresses at all the places. Accusing the UPA for not doing enough in curbing the menace of corruption,Advani used his addresses mainly to emphasise on the need of changing the leadership at the Centre.

Disclosing the party’s agenda for the forthcoming Parliament session beginning from November 22,Advani said that BJP shall demand and force the Centre to disclose those 700 persons’ names, who have stashed their black money in various foreign bank accounts.

The Jan Chetna Yatra was received by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal at Kala Amb. After a brief welcome function at the Haryana-HP border, the rally proceeded towards Paonta Sahib. Though people were anticipating that Advani shall come out of the bus and address the gathering but local BJP leaders announced that since the polls are on in the Sirmour constituency,Advani won’t be addressing the public.

Advani was at Paonta Sahib for around 10 minutes and he asked people to be united and fight against corruption. He assured the gathering that BJP shall leave no stone unturned to get lakhs of crores of rupees back to India from the foreign bank accounts. After addressing the gathering,Advani paid obeisance at Paonta Sahib gurdwara and proceeded for Dehradun, where he addressed another public meeting. Advani’s rally ends on November 20 in Delhi.
