Ferozepur drone attack victim succumbs to injuries, husband battles for life at Ludhiana Hospital
The woman was injured on May 9 when the drone fell on the house, and the border village in Punjab's Ferozepur was under a blackout following Operation Sindoor.

A 50-year-old resident of a border village in Punjab’s Ferozepur district, who had sustained 100 per cent burn injuries in a suspected drone attack from across the Pakistan border on the evening of May 9, succumbed to her injuries in Ludhiana’s Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) early Tuesday.
Sukhwinder Kaur, a resident of Khai Feme Ki village, was injured at around 9.30 pm on May 8 when the drone fell on the house, and the area was under blackout. The fuel tank of a car parked in the verandah caught fire, and caused burn injuries to the family members sitting at the spot.
“She died during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday at DMCH. Her body will be brought to the village in the afternoon,” said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Anumeet Heera Sodhi from Ferozepur.
“It is a matter of shame that the chief minister had no time to see the victims in the hospital. We are standing with the family,” Sodhi added.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced Rs 5 lakh as ex gratia from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the family of Kaur.
In a statement, Mann expressed deep sorrow over Kaur’s demise. “Our government stands firmly with her family during this time of immense pain, and we are committed to providing all possible support to help them cope with this devastating loss,” he said.
Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora also extended financial assistance, announcing Rs 2 lakh for Kaur’s family.
Kaur’s husband, 55-year-old Lakhwinder Singh, who suffered 72 per cent burn injuries, is still undergoing critical treatment at DMCH. Their son, Jaswant Singh alias Monu, 24, sustained a minor injury on his leg due to a sharp-edged object following the blast. He is being treated at Baghi Hospital in Ferozepur.
The Ferozepur police said the car’s light was on, due to which this incident might have happened.
On May 9 evening, several drones were spotted in the Ferozepur cantonment and nearby areas amid the India-Pakistan tension following Operation Sindoor.
