Barely five hours after a three-year-old Mannat was allegedly kidnapped outside a house in Sector 27 on Wednesday evening,Chandigarh police found the girl from her fathers residence in Mandi Gobindgarh. Police arrested Mannats father Bhupinder and his friend Harjit Singh,a resident of Hehar Majra Kalan,Gobindgarh for alleged abduction. We had registered a case against two unidentified men under Section 364,34 of the IPC, said the Deputy Superintendent of Police,East,J S Khaira. After the medical examination,the minor girl was handed over to her mother in Sector 27. Bhupinder had a strained relationship with his wife and that is why he took his daughter, he said. Police sources said soon after the alleged kidnapping,the cyber and the technical cell of the Chandigarh police,through phone records,deduced that Bhupinder was in Chandigarh at the time of kidnapping. The police kept a a close watch on him and finally a police party from the Industrial Area police station raided Bhupinders residence and recovered his three-year-old-daughter. The police arrested Bhupinder and after questioning,he disclosed that he was accompanied by his friend Harjit,who drove the motorcycle which was used to pick Mannat from Sector 27. The police party later arrested Harjit from his home. Police said Mannat was allegedly kidnapped by a masked youth in a turban when she was playing near her garage with her three cousins at around 8 pm on Wednesday. The kidnapper was accompanied by another person,who had also covered his face and was driving the motorcycle, police said.
