The nine days of the Navratras are no longer the leanest time of the year.

The nine days of the Navratras are no longer the leanest time of the year. Instead, they may well be about trying new flavours and innovative meals. Cashing in on the nine days of divinity are fine-dining restaurants and hotels in the tricity which are going out of their way to incorporate Navratra fare in their menus. While the quintessential Vrat ki thali is being dished out at most places, there’s a definite effort in offering something different on the platter. JW Marriott,Chandigarh, has a Navratra buffet on at its café and drinks such as Seb Aur Angoor Ka Sharbat and Papite Aur Kele ki Lassi are the highlights here. If you are looking to try something more than just paneer, the Ajwaini Arbi and Malai Kofte are highly recommended. Elsewhere,at Taj Chandigarh, chef Sumant Dadhwal has put together a Navratra thali that shall be served at Café 17. Kuttu ka pakora,Phaldhari Tikki Aloo,Kuttu and Potato Kadhi are the specials on offer. The Navratra meals will be dished out till October 23. A meal for two at the two hotels will set you back by Rs 1600 (approximately). For a more pocket-friendly bite, head over to Sundaram’s that is also dishing out a Navratra thali with quintessential Saabudana Papad, aloo ki sabzi, paneer bhurji and the likes.
