The AAP legislator from Samrala constituency of Ludhiana district in a post on Facebook alleged that he was getting death threats and “plans were being made by his rivals from an opposition party to eliminate him.”

Jagtar Singh Diyalpura, the first time MLA from Samrala, further wrote that those who were threatening to “eliminate him by spending Rs 1 crore or planning to get him crushed under a truck by hiring men” should get it straight that he “wasn’t scared of anyone and cannot be suppressed”.

Diyalpura in his post also made a veiled attack on five-time former Samrala MLA Amrik Singh Dhillon, who shifted from Congress to BJP, and said that people who ruled constituency for 25 years should compare their work with his tenure of 17 months instead of “stooping to such low level of politics.”

Later addressing media, Diyalpura alleged that former MLA Amrik Singh Dhillon’s grandson and BJP leader Karanvir Singh Dhillon was weaving conspiracies to eliminate him. He said that though he did not get any direct threat, he got to know from several others that conspiracies were being weaved to eliminate him due to political rivalry.
However, Diyalpura later removed the post from his Facebook page.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Karanvir Singh Dhillon, president Samrala municipal council and BJP’s Khanna division president said that Diyalpura removed the post after his own “misconception and misunderstanding was cleared.”

“Someone from a village had purportedly said to him that they will defeat AAP in upcoming panchayat polls even if they have to spend Rs 1 crore. He took entire thing to somewhere else and thought it was a threat to kill him. I have nothing to do with those people who said this to him but he dragged my name into it and later himself deleted the post. My grandfather has been a statesman politician and served Samrala for more than two decades. We cannot stoop to such low level of politics,” said Dhillon.

Samrala police station SHO sub inspector Bhinder Singh said that they did not receive any complaint from the MLA and matter was sorted.
