After successfully conducting Raid De Himalaya,Shimla-based club,Himalayan Motorsport,is gearing up to organise the two-day Mughal Rally set in the sylvan heights of Kashmir on June 30 and July 1.
Launched in 2010 as a rally for SUVs and cars,the Mughal Rally has already emerged as one of the biggest and tightly contested events on the Indian motorsporting scenario.
17 bikers have already entered the Mughal Rally this year. Of the 105 teams participating,the Four Wheeler Xtreme has 50 SUVs and cars while the rest fall into the Enduro category. The XTreme is the out-and-out speed category while the Enduro follows the Time-Speed-Distance format.
Entries for the Mughal Rally opened on April 1. On June 30,a 100 teams will run in The 3rd J&K Bank Mughal Rally. These include 50 teams in the Xtreme,35 in Enduro,and 15 in motorcycles and quads.
Vijay Parmar,who leads the core team of Himalayan Motorsport,said,The Jammu & Kashmir Government asked the club to organise the Mughal Rally a pet project of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
With The Mughal Rally,the state has opened the track used by the Mughal emperor Akbar through the Pir Panjal range to travel from Lahore to Srinagar and Jammu,and forward to Delhi,Parmar added.
The J&K government is enthusiastic about hosting the event as it will showcase the untapped potential for adventure tourism in the state.
