The Delhi High Court on Friday asked the concessionaire of the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway to respond to a contempt petition filed by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation,accusing the company of disobeying court orders on collection of toll from commercial vehicles for the civic agency. The Punjab and Haryana High Court prohibited the expressway operator,Delhi Gurgaon Super Connectivity Limited (DGSCL),on September 4 from collecting toll for 15 days for its failure to decongest the 32-lane Sirhaul toll plaza in Gurgaon.
The South Municipal Corporation filed a petition in the Delhi High Court on Friday,stating that it has suffered irreparable financial losses. Earlier,the Delhi High Court had allowed DGSCL to collect toll on behalf of the civic agency in accordance with an agreement between the company and the corporation.
