Ex-Punjab CM Charanjit Channi questioned by vigilance again

Former Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Charanjeet Singh Channi on Tuesday appeared before the Vigilance Bureau (VB) at the agency’s headquarter in Sector 68 on Tuesday in connection with the disproportionate assets (DA) case.

As per details, the bureau grilled Channi for around five hours on Tuesday.

Channi had first been summoned by the bureau in the disproportionate assets case in April. Tuesday marked the second time that Channi had appeared before the investigating agency.

Sources said that the vigilance bureau had prepared a source report about the details of properties owned by Channi and his family and the former CM was told to come with the details of his owned property.

Channi reached the VB office at around 10.30 am and left at around 3.30 pm. It is learnt that the bureau gave a performa to Channi to fill in the details of his property and other sources of income.

Channi, who has been vocal in his criticism against current Punjab government and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, did not speak to the media while leaving the VB office.
