Ex-Colonel arrested by Ambala police after spat with Army officers in military hospital

The retired colonel is the husband of a woman Colonel who is facing disciplinary proceedings and has levelled allegations of sexual harassment against three Brigadiers and a Lt Colonel. After her suspension from service over disciplinary proceedings, she is currently undergoing psychiatric treatment at a military hospital following attempts to harm herself twice.
In the developments that took place on Thursday, the retired colonel also submitted a complaint to the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Ambala Cantonment Police Station, alleging harassment of his wife by some Army officers. He alleged in the complaint that his wife had been physically manhandled in the officers’ ward of the military hospital.
As per the contents of the FIR accessed by The Indian Express, the retired Colonel has been booked under Sections 115, 121 (1), 132, 221, 353 (3), and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). These sections pertain to obstructing a government servant from performing his duties and also voluntarily causing hurt and obscenity.
As per the complaint lodged by one Lt Col N K Sharma, the retired Colonel barged into the military premises and physically assaulted him on Thursday evening while he was discharging his official military duties in uniform. Lt Col Sharma alleged the accused hit him on his neck and arms and twisted his arm to gain unauthorised access.
Lt Col Sharma also alleged that the accused hit a woman personnel to gain unauthorised access to the premises. He alleged that the retired Colonel verbally abused him and all other officials on duty, and also recorded various Army personnel wearing uniforms and military installations, thereby compromising the safety and security of serving soldiers as well as military installations.
When contacted, the SHO declined to give any information on the sections of the BNS under which he had been arrested, saying the matter was being investigated.
Surinder Singh Bhoria, Superintendent of Police, Ambala, said he was not aware of the matter and would find out. However, he did not respond to subsequent messages. Sibash Kaviraj, Commissioner of Police, Ambala, however, confirmed the FIR and arrest of the retired Colonel.
The accused has made several complaints in the past to the Ambala police alleging harassment of his wife by Army authorities. He has also been making posts on X stating that his wife was being targeted for ulterior motives.
