Errors taint home science list too

The errors in the final merit list released by the Chandigarh Administration extend beyond Junior Basic Trained and fine arts categories.

Teachers’ recruitment : Candidates’ caste affiliations do not match in final merit list and detailed list of marks

The errors in the final merit list released by the Chandigarh Administration extend beyond Junior Basic Trained (JBT) and fine arts categories.

A scrutiny of the lists of home science candidates revealed a gross error.

The caste affiliations of selected candidates in the final merit list and those in the detailed list of marks do not match.

OBC candidates in the merit list have been categorised as SC candidates in the detailed list and vice versa.

With this,it is evident that one of the lists is incorrect.

According to the appointment notice of the Education department,of the 16 teachers to be recruited for home science, nine should be general category candidates, two SC,four OBC and one physically handicapped.

In the merit list, four candidates — 180118192,180118022,180118229 and 180118059 — have been listed under OBC category. But in the detailed list, they have been mentioned as SC candidates.

Further, two candidates — 180118201 and 180118039 — have been listed under SC category in the merit list. But in the detailed list, they appear as OBC candidates.

The anomaly suggests that instead of two SC candidates, four have been selected, and instead of four OBC candidates, two have been selected.

Depending on which list is incorrect, the recruitment process has been unfair to candidates of one of the two categories.

The Administration has recruited 536 teachers for more than 100 government schools in the city — 273 masters/mistresses,235 junior basic trained (JBT) teachers and 28 nursery teachers training (NTT) teachers.

The recruitment process has been mired in controversy since it began.

Admn releases corrected list of fine arts
After Newsline highlighted mistakes in the totalling of marks of 59 fine arts candidates, the Administration released the corrected list on the Education department’s website.

On Sunday, the Administration had admitted to the mistakes but had stated that of the 59 candidates,57 do not fall in the merit list even after correction.
