Mohali Deputy Commissioner Prabhjot Singh Mand today directed the district civil and police officials to ensure routine power and water supply besides other essential services across the district on April 15.
He was taking stock of the preparedness of the district administration against the statewide protest called by the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) employees and several farmers organizations against the PSEB unbundling.
The DC asked the district heads of different departments to ensure close coordination and act jointly in larger public interest to avoid any possible loss to the public property,especially PSEB transmission units,lines and other related infrastructure.
He said special panels have been formed at the district and sub-division-levels to keep a tab on the entire situation and take immediate steps to avert any untoward incident. While the DC would head the panel at district-level,which would comprise SSP and PSEB Superintending Engineer,the panels at sub-division-level would be headed by respective SDMs with concerned DSPs and PSEB Executive Engineers as members.Also,special control rooms at the offices of DC,SDMs and PSEB SE and Executive Engineers have been set up,where any information regarding any disturbance in law and order situation would be received and swiftly acted upon.
Addressing the meeting,Mohali SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar urged the public to keep vigil on the public properties,the protection of which the district police would ensure at all costs. He said the police patrolling would be stepped up and all out efforts would be taken to thwart any attempt to disturb law and order situation in the district.
