With an aim of anytime-anywhere learning through information and communication technology,Department of Higher Education,UT Administration,organised a two-day workshop on e-content development for NMEICT at the Government College for Girls,Sector 11,Chandigarh.
The workshop was conducted on May 17 and 18,and included principal investigators and co-investigators,who have presented their proposals for e-content development on curriculum-related topics to NMEICT at New Delhi. More than 80 delegates from the government colleges of the city participated in the workshop. Eminent speakers related to the field guided them on various facets and dimensions of e-content development.
On the first day of the workshop,delegates were introduced to instructional design and four-quadrant approach for content development and an overview of open source tools for multi-media content creation was presented. This was followed by hands-on practice for e-content development using Wiki,eXe,Audacity,CamStudio,video capturing and editing tools. The delegates then engaged in group activities on identified topics.
On the second day,a discussion and demonstration on different Adobe products and effective classroom integration was organised and many doubts of the participants were clarified. Another meaningful exercise was guidance on organisation and collection of information,collaboration on documents and portfolios,and collection and feedback with Acrobat Professional.
The delegates also learnt about How to create high-quality on-demand presentations without special training with Adobe Presenter software. To make classroom teaching more exciting and engaging for students,the delegates were introduced to effectiveness of powerful visuals,audio,video and animation using Adobe Photoshop Elements and Adobe Premiere Elements.
The UT Administration has taken the initiative in the government e-literacy project . It aims at increasing at least five per cent literacy in the country during the current five-year plan. As many as 35 e-content proposals of the government colleges under UT Higher Education Department have been accepted and necessary funds for the same have been earmarked.
