Easy wins for Neel,Jaishvin

Neel hammered Karan 8-0 in a dominating performance while Jaishvin produced an equally stunning 8-0 win over Karitkaya,to set up the title clash.

After registering identical 8-0 victories over their respective opponents in second round ,it was difficult to say who of the either two- Neel Singh or Jaishvin- had the upper hand going into the title clash in boy’s under-12 category in the Paragon Total Tennis Championship being played at Paragon School,SAS Nagar,on Friday.

Neel hammered Karan 8-0 in a dominating performance while Jaishvin produced an equally stunning 8-0 win over Karitkaya,to set up the title clash.

In the boy’s Under-16 category,Nikhil was tested by Amitoj but the former managed to emerge triumphant,7-6 (7-2),in an exciting encounter. Nikhil kept his nerves and just played his natural game while Amitoj commited some faults to further slip in the race for victory. Sumer also managed to prevail over Sehaj,6-4. Due to rainfall,s0me of the matches had to be postponed and will now be played on Saturday.

Kiran steers CC-42 to final

CHANDIGARH: Kiran scored 10 goals to single-handedly guide Coaching Centre,Sector 42,to an easy 21-10 win over Coaching Centre,Sector 23,in a semi-final match in the girls’ junior category of the 26th junior (boys and girls) and 27th sub-junior (boys and girls) handball championship being held at Government Model Senior Secondary School ground in Sector 19. Coaching Centre-42 were leading by 9-6 till the half-time. Jyoti,Phool Jahan and Poonam scored three goals each for the winning team. For Coaching Centre-23,the main scorers were Madhu (4),Kieran (3) and Nancy (2). In the boy’s sub-junior section,Guru Nanak Khalsa School,Sector 30,prevailed over Coaching Centre,Sector 23,by 8-5. The half-time score was 6-3 in favour of GNKS-30. Mauryan (3),Rajesh and Akshay (2 goals each) were the main scorers for the winning team.

Body Building C’ship on April 6

CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh Amateur Body Building Association (CABBA) will organise the 24th Senior Mr. Chandigarh Body Building Championship on April 6 at Flax Lounge Fitness,SCO 3,Sector 41,Chandigarh. Weighing-in will be held on April 5 at CABBA office at SCO 62-63,Sector 17,Chandigarh,from 4 pm to 6 pm. The pre-judging and the final pose down will be held on April 6 from 10 am onwards at Flax Lounge Fitness in Chandigarh. The Championship will be held in the following weight categories: 55 Kg,60 Kg,65 Kg,70 Kg,75 Kg,80 Kg,85 Kg,90 Kg,100 Kg and Above 100 Kg. The winners will get cash prize of Rs 15,000.

Cricket trials today

Chandigarh : The Fatehgarh Sahib District Cricket Association (affiliated with Punjab Cricket Association) will conduct trials to select the U-16 (boys) team at 1.00 pm on March 30 at Mata Gujri College,Fatehgarh Sahib,for Punjab inter-district cricket tournament to be organised by PCA. The trials will be conducted under the supervision of former U-19 Indian coach Monish Aggarwal. Players studying or living in Fatehgarh Sahib are eligible for the trials. Players should be less than 16 years of age as on September 1,2013 and should bring photocopy of birth certificate/certificate from respective school to the trials.
