On a day the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab completed three years, party chief Arvind Kejriwal Sunday said drug menace and corruption were the biggest issues in the state.

On the occasion, Arvind Kejriwal, along with his wife Sunita Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, also visited the Darbar Sahib in Amritsar.

Talking to reporters outside the Darbar Sahib with Mann standing next to him, Arvind Kejriwal said, “War has been leashed against drugs and corruption by the people of Punjab. It is a fight for justice.”

He added that their goal in Punjab is to serve the poor, deliver justice to the people, eradicate drug abuse and corruption, and they have come to seek the blessings of the Gurus for this mission.

During the visit, Arvind Kejriwal also stated that Bhagwant Mann will complete his five-year term as the Punjab CM.

Mann said the fight against drugs and corruption in Punjab was being waged. “The government has provided 52,000 jobs and has been working to fulfil the guarantees given by Arvind Kejriwal to make Punjab prosperous,” added Mann.

Arvind Kejriwal had been in Hoshiarpur for the past 10 days for Vipassana meditation. He arrived in Amritsar on Saturday, where he met former minister Inderbir Nijjar at his residence. He also met former minister and BJP leader Laxmi Kanta Chawla.

This is Arvind Kejriwal’s first visit to Punjab after the AAP lost power in Delhi. There are speculations that he might be elected to the Rajya Sabha from Punjab, as the AAP has fielded Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora as its candidate for the Ludhiana West Assembly bypoll. On Monday, Kejriwal is slated to campaign for Arora.
