A hat-trick by drag-flicker Amandeep Singh guided Round Glass Hockey Academy to an emphatic 5-2 win over PIS Surjit Hockey Academy, Jalandhar, and to the top of the points table in the Punjab Hockey League being conducted by Hockey Punjab and Round Glass Sports at Olympian Balbir Singh International Stadium on Saturday. With the win, the Round Glass Hockey Academy now has 14 points in the league.
The PIS Surjit Hockey Academy, Jalandhar, started the match on an attacking note as Kushal Sharma netted the opening goal of the match through a successful penalty corner conversion in the 11th minute of the match. Trailing by one goal, the Round Glass Hockey Academy forwards regrouped their tactics and their efforts soon paid dividends with Amandeep Singh scoring the equaliser for the team in the 12th minute through successful conversion of a penalty corner.
Amandeep scored his second goal of the match through another successful conversion of a penalty corner in the 25th minute of the match before he scored his third goal of the match through another penalty corner in the 28th minute of the match. Captain Gursewak Singh then scored the fourth goal for Round Glass Hockey Academy through a field goal in the 37th minute of the match.
Kushal then scored the second goal for PIS Surjit Hockey Academy, Jalandhar, through a penalty corner in the 54th minute of the match. Gurwinder then scored the fifth goal for the Round Glass Hockey Academy in the 59th minute of the match as the team completed the 5-2 win.
In another match of the day, SDAT Hockey Academy, Tamil Nadu, scored a 2-1 win via shootout against SGPC Hockey Academy, Amritsar, while Namdhari Hockey Academy scored a 1-0 win over Naval Tata Hockey Academy, Jamshedpur. In the final match of the day, SAI NCOE Sonipat scored a 5-0 win over Ghumanhera Risers Hockey Academy. Nitin, Ritesh Pandey, Ankush, Mannu Malik and Sunil scored one goal each for the winning team.
