Dr Satish Narula: Down to Earth

Flowering in the plant in the accompanying picture takes place during February and March.

Flowering in the plant in the accompanying picture takes place during February and March. But preparations for this have to be made now. The plant is called Klanchoe. The name is not new but the type is. It is a dwarf variety that is also available in a sparkling yellow hue. The cuttings should be planted now, preferably in six-inch-deep pots. Make sure you have a good number of pots as it gives its best when presented in mass planting. The soil medium should be light,as stagnant water may kill the plant. The watering requirement of Klanchoe is meagre.
