Dominant Abhishek helps Amritsar log six points

For second day running,Abhishek Sharma returned as the man with the golden arm,the stand-out performer. An impressive total of 72 runs and 14 wickets in the match made him the go-getter of the Amritsar team. It was his performance that helped Amritsar thrash hosts Mohali by nine wickets in the second round of under-12 to 14 Non Residential inter academy matches played at Mohali Cricket Association C-Ground on Tuesday. With this victory,Amritsar logged six points while Mohali bagged a point.

Earlier,resuming from their overnight score of 86 for 5,Amritsar were all out for 158 in 44.3 overs. Abhishek top scored with 39 runs while Arjun Pappal and Lakshay Mohal contributed 29 and 27 runs,respectively,to the team’s total. For Mohali,Ankur was the stand-out performer with the ball as he returned with an impressive figure of 7 for 51. It was his bowling effort that helped Mohali restrict the visiting team on a modest total.

The Mohali batsmen failed to learn from their mistakes in the first innings and once again got out playing rash shots. They were bundled out for 101 in 40.3 overs in their second innings. Manav Malhotra batted well and top scored with 46 runs. It was once again Abhishek who emerged as the tormentor for the Mohali team. Fresh from his nine-wicket haul in the first innings,Abhishek bowled with confidence and grabbed five wickets for 51 runs. He was supported well by Dipanshu who finished with four wickets for 18 runs. That gave Amritsar a target of 52 runs to win the match. They achieved the total for the loss of one wicket only. Abhishek shone with the bat once again and top scored with 33 runs.

Chandigarh win on basis of first innings lead

AYUSH Sikka smashed an unbeaten half-century (52) and Satyam Sharma bagged four wickets as Chandigarh continued to dominate Patiala for second day running in their match played at Dhruv Pandove Stadium on Tuesday.

At the end of the day’s play,Chandigarh took a lead of 161 runs with five wickets still in hand and won on the basis of first innings lead. They bagged three points while Patiala got one.

Resuming from their overnight score of 37 for 4,Patiala could add 23 runs more and were all out for 60 runs in 44.2 overs. Pulkit (11) and Rahul Prasad (9) were the main scorers for the hosts. Satyam bowled well to pick up four wickets while Tavleen (3 for 13) and Prabal (2 for 7) were also among wickets.

In their second innings,Chandigarh were 107 for 5 in 3 overs at the close of the day’s play. Sikka was unbeaten on 52. For Patiala,Tejpreet was the main wicket taker with four wickets for 46 runs.

Jalandhar garner three points against Ludhiana

JALANDHAR beat Ludhiana on the basis of first innings lead and garnered three points while Ludhiana got a point from the match. Jalandhar restricted Ludhiana to 120 and thereby took a lead of 16 runs. They were 21 for no loss in their second innings when the stumps were drawn.

Earlier,Ludhiana resumed from their overnight score of 46 for 4 and were bowled out for 120 in 53.5 overs. Jaish Jain top scored with 33 runs. For Jalandhar,Jatin Kumar performed well with the ball and returned with figures of 5 for 41 while Lovepreet bagged three wickets.

In their second innings,Jalandhar were 21 for no loss in ten overs at the close of the day’s play.
