Residents of Faridkot and patients admitted at the Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital have shot off complaint letters to the Vice-Chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences alleging that the doctors on duty at the hospital do not tend to the patients.

The complainants allege that even those lying in the emergency ward or the Intensive Care Units have to wait for hours before doctors come in. The Vice-Chancellor,Baba Farid University of Health Sciences,Dr S S Gill meanwhile, has assured the complainants that such incidents will not occur again and that all care will be taken to ensure that patients and the relatives do not face any kind of problem.

The issue gained prominence late on Monday evening after a youth Palwinder Singh, who was injured in a road accident near Jaitu, was rushed to the hospital at about four in the evening. Palwinder and his relatives claim that the doctor, who was supposed to administer first aid, came at about seven in the evening and the family says, that when they raised objections, the doctor told them to stay quiet or he would refer Palwinder to some other hospital.
