Her’s is a job we are pretty envious of. Imagine having to sift and choose from a line-up of designer ensembles, accessories and even jewellery. In fact ever since Nameet Kochar came back from London after completing her degree in fashion marketing and promotion from the London College of Fashion,Kochar has had her hands dipped in all things swish. “It comes with the job,” chuckles the city girl who isn’t a designer or a stylist but a bit of everything. “Though I have been a part of the London Fashion Week I chose to come back to India to work as I see tremendous potential here,” says Kochar who is all set to debut as a ‘fashion promoter’ with her brand ‘Ajooni’ this October 1 at Hotel Mountview. “Unlike a lifestyle exhibition that the city has been hosting,I have worked on a theme for the three-day show. I have handpicked ensembles to accessories to jewellery to even furnishings that fit the theme,” explains Kochar. The last couple of months have seen her coordinate with designers such as Nalandda Bhandari from Mumbai,Alka Mehra and Nidhi Singh from Delhi to put together collections specially suited for the city’s style divas. “The theme is celebration and festivity,” mentions Kochar who has brought in ethnic Indo-Westerns coupled with jewellery to go with it. Quiz her on the unique name of her label and she gushes,”It’s taken from the Gurbani and was actually recommended by my mother. Ajooni means eternal,” explains Kochar who always had a nose for fashion before she signed up for her three-year course. “I think that’s because the city is very upbeat and clued into style. But there’s one thing I don’t like,” buzzes the fashionista. And that would be? “Following trends blindly. It’s imperative to have your own style and wear what suits you best,” comes her advise. “Precisely why I will put together theme-based shows in the future that do more than just list out trends,” she makes a statement.
