Deepak makes winning start

Deepak of B Club made a winning start in the 37th Senior men boxing championship.

Deepak of B Club made a winning start in the 37th Senior men boxing championship as he defeated Akashdeep of Panjab University in the 69 kg weight category at PML SD School,Sector 32,on Saturday. Sahil Bhasin of B Club also got off to a good start as he defeated Karan Bir Singh of 46 Club in the 91 kg weight category while Vikarh of SGGS-26 won his bout against Gurman Jot in the +90 kg weight category.

Meanwhile,in the 46 kg weight category,Sumeet Hooda of B Club beat Mandeep of PGGC Sector 11 and Vijay Kumar of SD-46 also registered victory over Subhash Kumar of GC-11 in the same weight category. In 56 kg weight category,Navin Singh of SD College won his bout against Satnam Singh while Lakshay of GGS-26 defeated Shalinder of B Club in the same weight category. Also,Sunil Kumar of BCC-42 emerged as winner against Vikrat of E Club in the 56 kg category.

Shubham Gulati of GGS-26 registered an easy win in his bout against Varinder of DAV-10 in the 60 kg weight category while Vikay Singh of B Club also got off to a winning start against Sandeep of PGC-11 in the same age category. Durgesh of BCC-42 also won his respective bout against Rahul of PU in the 60 kg category. In the 64 kg weight category,the winners were Sagar of DAV-10,Harmeet Singh of GGS-26,Varinder Rana of BCC-42 and Ragala Rahul of B Club.

Similarly,the other winners on the opening day were Deepak Sura of B Club,Naresh of SD College,Neeraj of B Club,Deepak Sharma of B Club (all 69 kg weight category),Jaspreet of BCC-42,mandeep Malik of F Club,Kaicash of SD Club (all 75 kg category),Rakesh of SD College (81 kg) and Vinod Kumar of SGGS-26 (91 kg).

Meanwhile,in the women’s section,the winners were Shallu of GNK 30 (42kg),Anchal of GSS-16 (46kg),Savita of GCG-18 (51kg) and Sohini of SD Club (57 kg).
