Deadline to bid for number plates project may be extended

The project for issuing high security registration plates will be implemented on build,own and operate (BOO) basis. The successful bidder will assemble,establish,procure technology,design,develop,produce,emboss,affix and distribute the registration plates and finance,maintain and operate the infrastructure,formalities,services and establishment so created at his own risk and all costs involved in establishing embossing stations,site implementation and networking in the state.

As per the tender document of the state government,the contract will be for a period of 10 years commencing from the date of commencement of the scheme. The successful bidder shall pay five per cent royalty (inclusive of excise duty and exclusive of value added tax,service tax and other levies),on monthly basis to the government. The registration plates and the third registration plate sticker will be affixed in the premises of the registering authority or any other place authorised by the registering authority only by a representative of the successful bidder and the old plates removed from the existing vehicles shall be deposited with the registering authority beforehand,or as directed by the registering authority. The time available for affixing high security registration plates to vehicles will be four working days after the receipt of authorisation from the registering authority (RTO) locations.

The successful bidder shall detail a plan to appoint individual embossing stations in or in proximity of the existing registering authority to ensure proper and easy availability of the high security registration plates.
