Bollywood loves the big,fat Punjabi wedding,and Chandigarh is where its going to take place in Mere Dad Ki Maruti (MDKM). The new venture by Y Films,the youth-related film studio of Yash Raj Films,is a comedy set against the backdrop of a loud wedding in Chandigarh.
MDKM tells the story of a boy who sneaks away in his fathers fancy new car to impress the college beauty. All hell breaks loose when he loses the car. The film stars Saqib Saleem,who made his debut in last years sleeper hit Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge,also a Y Films venture. Proclaimed the Find of the Year by critics,Saleem will romance a new heroine being launched by Y-Films in MDKM. Her name is being kept under wraps by the studio. The film also marks the directorial debut of Ashima Chibber,who has worked with top Bollywood directors such as Shimit Amin in Ab Tak Chappan and Chak De India. Chibbers last project was as first assistant director to Imtiaz Ali in
Rockstar. The films soundtrack is by Sachin Gupta who has previously scored the music of Prince and a host of pop albums for artistes such as Atif Aslam and Mika.
