Earlier, the Chandigarh Police had opposed the discharge plea filed by Singh, a first-time BJP MLA from Pehowa. The police had said in court that while identifying the scene of crime, the victim was familiar with the place.

Key witnesses had further corroborated that immediately after the incident, she confided in them about being sexually harassed by the accused.

Also, “FSL examination pointed towards an informal relationship between the accused and the victim, going beyond professional conduct,” mentioned the Chandigarh Police reply.
