Cops recreate Bhullar crime scene

The Special Investigating Team formed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in the accident involving Chandigarh Police Sub Inspector Jaspal Bhullar case,on Wednesday reconstructed the whole series of events that took place on the day of the incident.

Earlier,the High Court had ordered the Haryana Police to re-investigate the case and submit a report within three months.

The team of Haryana Police,headed by Police Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Rajpal Singh,along with other police officers reconstructed the scene at Traffic Light point in Sector 22. The exercise began at 3 pm and ended at 4.30 pm.

Speaking to Newsline,Rajpal Singh said,“The complete reconstruction of the scene was done in order to make proper observations. The team also involved forensic experts. The placement of the vehicles and the people involved in the accident before and after the accident was also done.” He added that the report will be handed over to the the High Court within the time frame.

The incident dates back to June 27,2009 when Gagandeep died due to rash and negligent driving by Bhullar – who was then then the Sector 22 police post in-charge. Gagandeep and Mandeep Singh Gill,were riding a two-wheeler,when the collision took place. While Gagandeep died on the spot,Mandeep sustained serious injuries.

Mandeep’s statement was not recorded for over two-and-a-half months. Moreover,statements of eyewitnesses or the one who had called the Police Control Room were not recorded. It was only after the father of the deceased made repeated requests that Mandeep’s statement was recorded by the police.
