Cops attacked in Mauli Jagran brawl

Two policemen were beaten up by youths while trying to stop a brawl at Mauli Jagran late on Monday evening.

Two policemen were beaten up by youths while trying to stop a brawl at Mauli Jagran late on Monday evening.

The police control room had received a call around 9.30 pm about a violent scuffle between two groups in the area. Sub-Inspector Sikander Singh and constable Sandeep from the area police post went to the spot in Mauli where around seven to eight youths were fighting.

As the two policemen tried to stop the fight,the youths attacked them. One of them attacked constable Sandeep with a rod while the others beat up Singh. They also hit them with bricks.

While the two policemen were rushed to the GMSH Sector 16,the police have deployed additional force in the area and have launched a hunt for track the attackers.

A case under Sections 323 (causing hurt),506 (criminal intimidation),352,353 (assault on public servant) of the IPC has been registered against Gamma,Om Parkash and others in Mani Majra police station. No one was arrested till the filing of the report.

“All the accused were armed with sticks and rods. We have identified four persons and they will be arrested soon,” said Gurmukh Singh,in-charge Mauli Jagran police post.
