Constable ‘molestation’ case: BSF starts inquiry

BSF has begun a high-level probe into allegations of molestation made by a woman constable of the force, according to sources in the BSF.

The Border Security Force (BSF) has begun a high-level probe into allegations of molestation made by a woman constable of the force, according to sources in the BSF.

The force is also in the process of writing a detailed reply to the Punjab State Women Commission, which has already taken cognisance of the allegations made by the lady constable against her senior officer.

The state women body had demanded a probe and action in the case that has brought major embarrassment to the BSF.

Though top level BSF officers are tight-lipped over the issue, they have deputed a deputy commandant level officer to look into the matter after The Indian Express reported the incident on Sunday.

The BSF may record the victim’s statements on Monday though sources state that the constable is still in shock and under pressure to withdraw her complaint.

The woman constable was posted at the Khemkaran sector on the Indo-Pak border when three days ago a senior officer caught her talking on a mobile phone, which is banned otherwise.

When the officer approached her on the watch tower where she was on duty along with a lady colleague,he searched her physically to find the gadget, which the woman constable has alleged was inappropriate.
