Cong warns NSUI against supporting other parties

President of the Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee (CTCC),B B Bahl,issued a warning to members of National Students Union of India (NSUI) saying if they extend support to candidates of any other party during the student council elections,they will not be given any position in the Congress party.

The decision was conveyed to the student leaders in the meeting held by Member of Parliament,Pawan Kumar Bansal and members of CTCC with the NSUI members at Congress Bhawan,Sector 35 on Sunday.

Parties on the campus like the SOPU and PUSU are backed by different factions of the Congress with members of these parties having joined the Youth Congress in the past few years. Earlier,in a meeting with senior leaders in New Delhi,NSUI members had been given similar instructions.

Around 20 student leaders from the party attended the meeting in which preparations regarding the forthcoming student council elections were

discussed.

According to a member,the CTCC members also designated work among the party members and councillors were asked to keep a check on the student leaders from their area. NSUI Chairman,Bhupinder Singh Batth said Bansal had also given few suggestions regarding the preparation of the elections and conveyed his good wishes.
