Conference on ‘smart energy’ begins

A two-day national conference on ‘Smart Energy — Generation,Promotion and Conservation’ was inaugurated by Rich Goldman,chief executive officer,Synopsis Armenia,on the campus of the Chitkara Group of Institutes in Rajpura on Friday. In her welcome address,Dr Madhu Chitkara,Director General,Chitkara Educational Trust,said the objective of the conference was to provide a forum for deliberating on latest developments,ideas and their applications to the practice of smart energy. Goldman cited examples of countries like China,Korea and Taiwan,who have prospered by building knowledge-based economies and appreciated efforts by India in this direction. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Synopsis and Chitkara University for launching a Microelectronic Systems programme. Balour Singh,director,Punjab Energy Development Agency,highlighted the efforts of the state government in giving a boost to non-conventional sources of energy with a view to generate clean and green power.
